Orange Tree Care Instructions
Oranges are greedy plants and should be fed regularly with the enclosed special citrus feed. As the plants are growing actively they will need feeding about once a fortnight.
Your plant will soon produce flowers that develop into sweet, edible oranges. Once the plant gets going it will often have both flowers and fruit and the same time.
If you have a conservatory, the orange tree can live there year round. Alternatively, it can be kept outside in the summer and just brought indoors and kept on a light windowsill for the winter.
Oranges can grow into fairly large plants, but the good news is that you can prune them back at almost any time. Cut back any long stems to a healthy pair of leaves.
Water regularly during the growing season, but reduce watering in the winter.
Too much water in winter is the easiest way to kill a citrus plant.
Next spring, it will need to be potted into a larger container. Use a good quality multipurpose compost and allow an increase of 2 to 3 cms all round.
