Olive Tree Care Instructions

Olive trees are very easy to care for, and given sunlight and good drainage can live for many hundreds of years.

If it is to be left growing in the container, it will be happy for a while, but ultimately will need planting into a larger pot with drainage holes, using a multipurpose compost.

During the summer, water regularly and feed occasionally with a drop of food (seaweed extract is good). In the winter it should be kept somewhat drier and away from drips to prevent waterlogging.

You could also keep this olive on a sunny windowsill indoors. However they are tougher than you may think, surviving temperatures as low as -10c. It is more likely to be over-watering rather than cold that will kill a plant.

Trim the leaves as and when to keep a neat shape.
