Moth Orchid Single

One beautiful orchid plant with two flower stems carrying long lasting white or pink blooms.
We have sourced top quality plants from an English grower who cultivates them slowly and more gently than Dutch nurseries, resulting in stronger, long lasting plants.

Moth Orchid Single Care Instructions
Moth Orchids (Phalaenopsis) grow naturally in tropical forests, so love a warm room with a temperature of 18 – 20 C (65 – 70F). Basically, if you’re warm and cosy then they will be too. Keep out of direct sunlight.
Provide humidity by regular misting with tepid water.
They naturally cling to the bark of trees with fleshy aerial roots that absorb food and water. These roots often creep over the edge of the pot as though trying to escape. Don’t worry, it is the sign of a healthy orchid!
Watering and Feeding
Before watering remove the moss and take the plant out of its decorative container.
The compost is made of bark which tends to always look dry. Feel the weight of the pot, if it feels light then water thoroughly but don’t let it stand in water and always let it drain. As a guide, in winter water every two or three weeks, in summer just once.
Every so often add a little orchid fertiliser either to the watering can or to a mister. If using regular houseplant fertiliser, use at half strength.
After flowering
Pick off flowers as they fade. When all flowers are finished, cut the stem down to about half its length just above a node (a small swelling on the stem). This should develop into another flowering stem.
