Calamondin Care Instructions
Calamondins are greedy plants and should be fed regularly with the enclosed special citrus feed. As the plants are growing actively they will need feeding about once a fortnight.
Your plant will often have both flowers and fruit at the same time.
The fruit are edible, but on the sharp side. They can be used in cooking and make a great marmalade. For something a bit different, try freezing them whole and using instead of ice cubes.
Keep your plant in a cool, bright room. It is also a good idea to stand it outside in the summer, especially in a rain shower!
The Calamondin Orange doesn’t get too large, but if individual stems get too long they can be pruned back to a healthy pair of leaves at any time of the year.
Water regularly during the growing season, but reduce watering in the winter.
Too much water in winter is the easiest way to kill a citrus plant.
Next spring, it will need to be potted into a larger container. Use a good quality multipurpose compost and allow an increase of 2 to 3 cms all round.
